When I first started my foray into the online dating world, I felt like Dorothy in Oz. Everything was strange and new; I needed someone to talk to. And I really wanted to avoid flying monkeys.
So, I turned to my roommate for advice. She is much more computer savvy than myself, and has delved into the world of online dating and chats. She could give me honest opinions and advice on how to navigate the strange world of the interwebs.
Plus she’s wicked funny, so it made for entertaining conversations.
Me (browsing the OK Cupid ‘verse): Here’s a guy named Leon.
The Roommate (TR): Is he a professional?
Me (reading his “personality traits”): He’s more adventurous.
TR: Does he know how to sweep?
Me: Now go drink your milk.
Me: Leon visited my profile, apparently he doesn’t think I can clean.
That was nearly three years ago, and I remember Leon. He was definitely no Jean Reno.
Anywho… I think from time to time I will drop wisdom kernels from TR and share some of our more interesting conversation exchanges, because it’s much easier to “ease on down the road” of online adventures with a friend.
Léon*: Here, take it. It’s a goodbye gift. Go clean. But not with me. I work alone, understand? Alone.
Mathilda: Bonnie and Clyde didn’t work alone. Thelma and Louise didn’t work alone. And they were the best.
